Someone else helps us figure it out off my findings.Įxtra note I had a 2019 iMac also Catalina-Big Sur and that worked as well. Keep booting into Catalina-Big Sur partition when we need to scan. I attempted the latest copy of VueScan 9.7.62 and that worked immediately. I attempted to try and isolate the driver from the Catalina-Big Sur partition and send it over to the other Big Sur installs but nothing happens. Mind you the System Information for the USB port shows the scanner on all installs/computers. I rebooted to the Catalina-Big Sur install and the scanner worked, like I remember it working.

I was on the clean install partition and same issue as the M1 MBP.

Went to my MBA 2018 with (2 partitions, one was a clean install of Big Sur and one was upgraded from Catalina). The scanner doesn't show up in system preferences, Preview, Image Capture.Ĭanons drivers for Big Sur are for the LIDE 120, we tried those, they didn't work. What can I do to at least make the scanner seen by the MacBook? I'll try using a simple mini-adapter to plug its USB2 cord directly into the MacBook, but that didn't work with the disk drives, so I'm not hopeful with the scanner.Ĭanon LIDE 110 scanner not working on clean install of Big Sur, works on Upgraded Catalina to Big Sur In my home we have a M1 MBP, and initially attempted to use the Canon scanner with the new computer, no go. The DVD disk drives I bought didn't show up on Finder either, even the one that came with an Apple USB connector. The WD hard drive does show up under hardware on Finder. The Dymo doesn't show up in Finder, but it works via the Dymo icon on my desktop, easy enough. When I went to Canon's site to download software to the Mac, it said no drivers or software were necessary for Mac OS.

I have other scanner devices I can use that are wireless, but the CanoScan can scan old Kodachrome slides and negatives, and has higher res capabilities. I know one adapter can be a problem, much less two, but the hard drive goes in directly via the Choetech and the Dymo goes to the Mokin first, just like the scanner, and both work fine. It connects via a USB2.0 cable to a Mokin multi-bus adapter and that to a Choetech multi-bus adapter. It sees my WD external hard drive (My Passport Elite) and all its folders, and it works with my Dymo LabelWriter after loading its software.īut now it doesn't seem to see my old Canon CanoScan 8800F scanner. I gave up trying to hook an external disk drive to it after buying and returning two models and brands. My new MacBook Pro (Catalina) seems to only see hardware it wants to.
